DUMAGUETE, APO ISLAND & SIQUIJOR; 3D/2N DIY ITINERARY AND EXPENSES
April 7-April 9, 2017
To help out those who likes to wander new places like me, sharing with you a detailed itinerary I made for our 3days and 2 nights Trip in Dumaguete City, Apo Island and Siquijor and how much we spent. The breakdown expenses below are by person.

Day 0: City of Gentle People: Dumaguete City (April 7, 2017)
We booked our ticket in advanced going to Dumaguete City that departs at 3pm (daily)to avoid queuing in the ticketing  office since we will depart on Friday and we expects a lot of passenger on that day. We took the ocean jet ferry boat for P700 each plus a P20 terminal fee when you arrived at the port. It took approximately 2hours travel time from Tagbilaran Port to Dumaguete Port.

3:00PM – Depart from Bohol to Dumaguete
5:00PM – Arrive in DGT
6:00PM – Check in at Pamela’s Pension House
7:00PM – Dinner at Robinson’s Place

8:00PM – Strolling the City (Boulevard)
Grilled Squid for Php250.00 with 2 cups of rice.

When we arrived at Dumaguete City, we went directly to Pamela’s Pension House to stay a night and to freshen up a bit before strolling the city. We already booked our room in advanced and unexpectedly the room was huge for the 6 of us but the thing that disappoints us was the check out time. We did exchange text messages days before our arrival that their check out time will be at 3PM but when we arrive there, they told us that if we exceed after 12PM there will be an additional P100 fee per hour.

Day 1:
APO ISLAND: Negros Oriental (April 8, 2017)

Apo Island is famous for its dive sites and snorkeling destinations. It is also popular for its giant sea turtles, locally called pawikan. That is why when we talked about Dumaguete trip, swimming with sea turtles is in our priority list! We woke up at 6:00 AM to prepare and eat breakfast. We ate at the carenderia nearby and we asked the locals where we can ride a bus or jeep going to Zamboangita, which is the jump-off point to Apo Island, where we can hire a motorized boat going to the island.
7:30AM – Check out at Pamela’s Pension House
8:00AM – Breakfast at Carenderia
8:30AM – Going to Dauin
9:30AM – Going to Apo Island
2:00PM – Going back to Dauin
3:00AM – Going back to Dumaguete
6:00PM – Going to Siquijor
8:00PM – Arrive at Siquijor
From Dumaguete, ride a bus or jeep going to Zamboanguita (drop off to Malatapay Market). Travel time will be 40mins. Look for the information center then rent a motorized boat going to Apo Island. We hired a boat that cost PHP3000 for 8 people, since we’re only 6, we need to find 2 more passenger to lessen the boat fare and luckily there were two girls who wants to share the boat with us for the same reason.
Apo Island Registration Office

Once you arrive on Apo Island, you have to go to the registration office on the beach where you register your party and pay the Apo island sanctuary fees. You also need to hire a tour guide when swimming with the turtles. You’re not allowed to enter the protected area where the turtles swim without a guide. One tour guide is good for 4 people for PHP300. If you have your own snorkeling gear, I suggest that you bring them with you.  On Apo Island, a snorkeling mask rental will cost you PHP100 each. You can also rent a life jacket for PHP100.

Day 2: The City of Fire: Siquijor (April 9,2017)

Someone told me that getting around Siquijor is quite expensive but if you planned your trip months ahead of your travel date, then I can assure you can travel Siquijor for not spending much. One of my friend has a relative on the island which is luckily we can stay there for a night for free! Big thanks to Tubiano’s family who accommodates us very well. They also booked our ticket in advanced going back to Bohol. We arrived at Siquijor around 8PM, April 8, 2017 and we rode a tricycle going to their house and asked for PHP100 fare. Lucky us they also contacted a driver (Multicab) for us to tour around the island by the next day. Our breakfast was free; they even cooked rice for us for lunch. We just bought roasted chicken (letchon manok) for our viand.
