1 DAY TRIP TO APO ISLAND;
TIPS AND BUDGET
TIPS AND BUDGET
APO ISLAND: Negros
Oriental (April 8, 2017)
Apo
Island is famous for its dive sites and snorkeling destinations. It is also
popular for its giant sea turtles, locally called pawikan. That
is why when we talked about Dumaguete trip, swimming with sea turtles is in our
priority list! We woke up at 6:00 AM to prepare and eat breakfast. We ate
at the carenderia nearby and we asked the locals where we can ride a bus or
jeep going to Zamboangita, which is the jump-off point to Apo Island, where we
can hire a motorized boat going to the island.
7:30AM – Check out at Pamela’s Pension House
8:00AM – Breakfast at Carenderia
8:30AM – Going to Dauin
9:30AM – Going to Apo Island
2:00PM – Going back to Dauin
3:00AM – Going back to Dumaguete
6:00PM – Going to Siquijor
8:00PM – Arrive at Siquijor
From Dumaguete, ride a bus or jeep going to Zamboanguita (drop
off to Malatapay Market). Travel time will be 40mins. Look for the information
center then rent a motorized boat going to Apo Island. We hired a boat that
cost PHP3000 for 8 people, since we’re only 6, we need to find 2 more passenger
to lessen the boat fare and luckily there were two girls who wants to share the
boat with us for the same reason.

Apo Island Registration
Office
|
Once you arrive on Apo Island, you have to go to the
registration office on the beach where you register your party and pay the Apo
island sanctuary fees. You also need to hire a tour guide when swimming with
the turtles. You’re not allowed to enter
the protected area where the turtles swim without a guide. One tour guide is good for 4 people for PHP300. If you have your own snorkeling gear, I suggest that you bring them with you. On Apo Island, a snorkeling mask rental will cost you PHP100 each. You can also rent a life jacket for PHP100.

Tip/s:
1.
Better if you bring your own food if you want your trip to be
cheaper. But don’t worry there are stalls that served cooked food in the island
but I’ll tell you, don’t expect much.
2.
You’re not allowed to touch the sea turtles.
* The above expenses is already breakdown each person. Total
damage is PHP 3,914.00. Finally, this is the last entry for Dumaguete- Apo
Island- Siquijor Trip. Hope this helps. 'Til our next journey!
